OUR SERVICES
Holistic Nutrition
Holistic Nutrition focuses on building knowledge of various kinds of therapeutic nutrition and recognizing that there is no ‘one size fits all’ healthy diet.
It emphasizes the building of health by approaching each person as a unique individual, while working in an empowering and cooperative manner to chart a course to optimal wellbeing.
When it comes to those who have experienced high amounts of stress as well as PTSD, we work to significantly decrease the level of stress on the body and to reverse the damage it may have done to the gut, brain and the body as a whole.
Herbal medicine
Herbalists take a holistic approach to healing, which involves investigating the root cause of symptoms and underlying factors creating illness or disharmony in the body. This makes herbal medicine an imperative tool when it comes to helping regulate the nervous systems response to stress, as well as any other symptoms that may arise.

With this approach can ease the response to stress, aid sleep, reduce anxiety, and lift and balance mood. These medicines are gentle, are generally used without side effects and can support immune function, energy and the restoration of mind/ body/ spirit balance.

Our clinical phytotherapists formulate custom herbal teas, tinctures, and other medicinal products designed for your specific needs.
Art & music therapy
Artistic expression is a beautiful way to experience mindfulness. It’s empowering, and can teach us that we’re capable of healing ourselves.

Scientifically, we know that creative expression acts as a bridge between the emotional and communicative centers in our brain. It helps to process stress and unpleasant memories, while improving our ability to calm and regulate the nervous system.

Our offerings include visual art therapy and vocal lessons.
Breath & movement
In order to process and move emotional experiences through the body, one of the most important aspects of healing is movement. One of the many defence mechanisms the brain can use to cope with the trauma of all forms of gender-based violence is dissociation, and one may loose touch with their capacity to move and breathe.

Together with breathwork, we offer yin yoga classes, restorative movement sessions, and gentle strength training to help you reconnect with your body.
Reproductive wellness
A history of sexual trauma can impact the body in many different ways including hormone balance and fertility.

Generally chronic stress and post traumatic stress will cause an excess of stress hormones such as cortisol and impact the part of the brain that controls ovulation, causing missed, irregular or painful menstrual cycles. A variety of symptoms and imbalances can arise from this form of trauma and if supported effectively can prevent disorders down the road.

Through this avenue of LIH we are giving clients an opportunity to learn how to read and understand the language of their bodies, through teaching them how to observe & interpret and ultimately heal their menstrual cycles. This includes lessons on reproductive anatomy, cycle mapping (charting) & fertility awareness.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy is a form of body-centred therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body, using both psychotherapy and physical therapies for holistic healing.

In addition to talk therapy, somatic therapy practitioners use mind-body excercises and other physical techniques such as tapping to help release the pent up tension that negatively affects a patient's physical and emotional wellbeing.

Practitioners of somatic therapy believe the mind and body are intimately connected, though not always in apparent ways. Our thoughts, emotions, and sensations are all believed to be interconnected and influence one another.
